Glass Fused to Steel
Glass Meets Steel:
the Perfect Combination of Corrosion Resistance and Strength
With our Glass Fused to Steel bolted steel panel tanks you get the highest engineered quality, best service, longest product life and greatest value available.
Glass Fused to Steel (GFS) or our vitreous enamel coating is the perfect system for bolted steel tanks combining the strength and flexibility of steel with glass, the highest chemical resistance.
Our glass coating is designed to produce an extremely strong chemical bond to the steel during the fusion process. This places the glass in compression and it remains in compression even when the steel bends and flexes. Our glass coatings are designed to deliver strength and durability while the steel is in tension due to the contents load. Glass Fused to Steel coatings are both chemically fused to and physically combined with the steel substrate resulting in an unmatched, tough durable bond.
Our glass coatings are fused to the steel at temperatures ranging from 760 to 860 which facilitates the interfacial fusion reactions that combine the two materials.
Glass is impermeable to liquids and vapors, it eliminates corrosion undercutting an offers excellent impact and abrasion resistance.
Applied to both interior and exterior surface, Glass Fused to Steel is able to provide many years of trouble free service in the harshest environments.
